Flagstone and paving stone walkways

The landscape guys are making working on the ;paving stone and flagstone walkways. These are set on gravel or sand, simetimes with a dollup of mortar underneath, and go all around our yard.

In the front and along one side of our house, we will use 24″x24″ square pavers.

The plans called for 30″x30″ poured in place paving stones, but we determined that would cost about 5 times what preformed paving stones would.  However, the largest size we could fine in preformed paving stones was 24″x24″, so that is what we will use.  Here are the paths being prepared for paving stones and flagstone.

As we want the resulting surface to be just slightly above the existing grade, we need to excavate down a bit for the sand, gravel, and mortar bed.

Here is the flagstone in the upper terrace of our back yard.  They laid out first for fit, then will dig the bed.
