The cabinet makers have been here for a couple of weeks now doing the finishing in the cabinets. There is surprisingly a lot to do.
– Adjust and level cabinet doors
– Install knobs and pulls
– Install cabinet class
– Install kick plates after flooring goes in
Lisa spent weeks looking at knobs and pulls to find the best fit at the best price, and it is really paying off. They look great.
All-in-all we’ve got somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 knobs and pulls all over the house.
Two floors done, one to go. It is a long process. As part of the process, they find out what is missing or wrong. It is a pretty big project to install custom cabinets and paint them in place, and some things are bound to get done incorrectly, missed, or misplaced.
– A panel for a panel ready appliance that is missing its center panel
– A kick plate painted the wrong color
– A missing drawer front that likely got misplaced in the cabinet painter’s shop
– Items we thought we ordered but didn’t
As part of the process we have to build a list of what is wrong, have the missing pieces made, and then route everything to the cabinet painters for painting.
We’ll need the cabinet painters back for one more round of touch-up to catch and miss-drills on the knobs and pulls (not many but they do happen) and to repair any cabinets damaged by other workers.
