The last bit of framing that remains to be done is the covered back porch. However, it depends on the concrete patio and footings, and, with that, we have a little problem.
That area happens to be where the newly graded back yard drains into; we’ve had a bit of a lake there for the past month. In the last week, we’ve furiously pumped the water out of that area and hoped it would dry out enough to let the concrete work begin, which it did a couple of days ago.
But that was just before the fair amount of rain we’ve had for the last few days, and the absolute deluge that is coming down today and over the weekend. Charlie, the builder, got creative and covered everything in the plastic so that water would pool but not sink into the ground.
We are on hold until the rain lets up and the forecast shows an extended period free from rain so we can finish the concrete work in that area.
