We always knew there would be rocks in the dirt, we just weren’t fully prepared as to how many. Our initial estimate was to remove 1800 yards of material from the ground. We are done tucking dirt away now and have taken 1200 yards. That means we’ve also moved about 600 yards of rock and fully 1/3 of everything in the ground is rock.
Here is our pile of rocks at a stone company storage yard.
Up until that last couple of days, the largest rocks we encountered were 3 feet wide or so. Large, but not too much trouble. Yesterday, we uncovered a couple of 4 foot boulders, a couple of 5 foot boulders, a 7 foot boulder, and then this one.
Now that is one big rock!
