We moved the first three palms a few days ago. Today we moved the two largest ones, the tallest of which topped out at around 35 feet high, and the heaviest one (curiously, not the tallest one) topping out at 28,000 lbs.
For this, they had to bring in a bigger crane, with an 80,000 lb. capacity.
It was an amazing sight to see, both the tree company crew and the crane crew working seamlessly together to move them from their old spots right next to our neighbors garage, to the front of the property flanking where our new front walkway will go. The nice thing about this move is that it was a short enough distance that we were able to capture it all on video from a single HD camera.
The final positioning of the trees was done with Charlie and I looking at them from different angles and then telling the crane operator to move the top three inches this way or that way, which, amazingly, he was able to do.
