I’ve had a downtown office for a few years. It is nice to have a place away from home to work but it is a bit of a pain as it is in the middle of a mall, and I have to park in the mall parking and have to walk about 5 minutes to the office. Before the construction project started, this wasn’t a problem as I spent most days at the office and rarely had to leave to go somewhere until the end of the day.
When construction started, and for about 8 months after that, we were living in the old house on the property, and I ended up working in my home office most of the time, as it was convenient to just be able to walk out and talk about any issues that might come up, which typically happened at least once a day.
With the demolition of the old house, I was left with my downtown office and my new home office about 10 miles away, neither of which was convenient for dealing with construction issues.
So I started looking for a new office in a more convenient location. I even considered buying a used RV to park on the lot to use as an office.
In the end, I settled on an office trailer. It isn’t large, at 8’x20′, but it can easily accommodate Charlie and myself, it is less than a quarter the cost of my current office space, and it is at the construction site; it is a win-win-win.
The trailer went in today, the power goes in tomorrow, and the dedicated business internet line gets installed on Thursday. By the end of the week I’ll be up and running.
