Faux sandstone

We have a lot of sanstone from the basement excavation, but to fashion it into specific shapes, like the stone cap for our seat wall, would be prohibitively expensive.  The alternative is a process popularized by a local contractor named Mike Schlagel, and aptly called Schlagel-stone by the local contractor types.  It is concrete that is colored and shaped to look like hand fashioned sandstone.

Here is our seat wall cap.

Once the top is washed off, removing the excess color accent powder, it will look a lot like sandstone.  We are also going to use this process to form the curbs on our new driveway, as our entire street has actual sandstone curbs, but they would be too expensive to install actual sandstone.
