Elevator

We finally signed off on the elevator a couple of days ago – it took quite some time.

For starters, we weren’t sure we wanted the expense of the elevator right now.  But certain life events lead us to believe it may be useful in the next few years.  Once we decided to move forward, we had to approve the elevator engineering package, which is very detailed and goes into a lot of detail about every aspect of the elevator and the elevator shaft.  For example:

That’s half a page of 8.  I’m not one to sign off on something without verify every detail, so over a week and a half, and several calls with the elevator company, we went over everything, and had the engineering drawings modified to our shaft specifications.  In the end, some measurements were still off slightly, but we noted them on the drawings and were told they were fine.

The lead time on the elevator is 12-14 weeks, which means we won’t have the benefit of the elevator when we first move in, if all else goes according to plan.
