Late last week, we thought we were done with the basement reconstruction after the water leak<\/a> and resulting flood.\u00a0 But alas, it was not to be.\u00a0 The company that did the repairs, did a pretty poor job at floating the walls and ceiling after the drywall was installed, and there are lots of visible issues.\u00a0 See the purple tape marking them below.<\/p>\n

If you look closely at all, it really looks bad, especially when compared with the fine job done on the rest of the house. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the issues until all the painting was done, as the paint has a light sheen which makes imperfections in the drywall mud and plaster visible.\u00a0 The company also didn’t use corner bead on the corners, so they are very wobbly, and will suffer from large cracks of plaster coming off if they get whacked; corner bead prevents this from happening if you hit the corners.<\/p>\n

To fix this, we have no choice but to redo the plaster and mud job, and then repaint again.\u00a0 This time we are going to bring in the company that did the original drywall and plaster job.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
