It’s been almost a month since we had the plumbing leak.\u00a0 We are still trying to get the plumbers<\/a> insurance company to pay up.\u00a0 Despite admitting they have responsibility for the claim, we have yet to see any money.<\/p>\n

We’ve reached the end of the remediation efforts, with the last of the dehumidifiers and fans turned off yesterday.<\/p>\n

The most problematic area turned out to be the flooring around the kitchen island.\u00a0 Take a look at the setup they had to dry it out.<\/p>\n

This pulled air away from the flooring, and blew hot dry air in behind it.\u00a0 We were lucky in that the flooring does not appear to be damaged. With a three month lead time, I can’t imaging the hassle from having to replace the flooring.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, there was some collateral damage from the drying process.\u00a0 Our tongue-and-groove bead board ceiling developed cracks from the wood shrinking. This will cost additional thousands of collars to have the painters fix it.\u00a0 Lesser of two evils I suppose.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately the entire ceiling in both the kitchen and family room are affected.\u00a0 We have bead boards ceilings in other areas that were not affected, so we are pretty darn sure it is a result of the water damage mediation process.<\/p>\n

The kitchen cabinets also shrunk a bit opening up a gap at the counter top to the backsplash.<\/p>\n
