Another week gone by and more milestones on the drywall.\u00a0 The crew is now putting up the “rock” in the last room now, the garage.<\/p>\n

They’ve also made a lot of progress with the joint compound (mud) and taping of the 2nd floor.\u00a0 Here is the progression.\u00a0 First the drywall goes on.<\/p>\n

Then the outside corners get the corner bead and some mud.<\/p>\n

The the joints get taped and mudded.<\/p>\n

Then the screw holes get some mud (vertical stripes below), the joints get a wider float of mud, and the outlets and other holes get floated out with mud.<\/p>\n

As I understand it, they will be applying a thin coat of plaster over the entire wall.\u00a0 The look we want is smooth but not quite perfect; some imperfection is a nice touch to recreate the old house look, but we generally want the walls to look smooth and true.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
