{"id":816,"date":"2017-07-07T09:51:22","date_gmt":"2017-07-07T17:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/?p=816"},"modified":"2017-08-02T15:29:43","modified_gmt":"2017-08-02T23:29:43","slug":"much-progress-on-the-interior-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/index.php\/2017\/07\/07\/much-progress-on-the-interior-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Much progress on the interior design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, our designer Jessica has been working her tail off.\u00a0 In the past month, quite a bit has happened.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Appliances<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve selected all our appliances and have an appliance package now.\u00a0 Knowing the appliance specifics matters quite a bit to the plumbers and electricians (see more about that below).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plumbing fixtures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While we chose all of our fixtures <a href=\"\/index.php\/2017\/03\/21\/lots-of-design\/\">a few months back<\/a>, the determination of specific locations for everything had to be done.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interior light fixtures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jessica and her team spent some time considering specific interior fixtures for us, things like pendants, surface mount fixtures, sconces, and chandeliers.\u00a0 We should be vetting round 2 of the selections soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interior elevations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those unfamiliar with the lingo, her is the definition of elevation:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"_Tgc\">An <b>elevation<\/b> is a type of a scaled <b>design<\/b> drawing that shows all features of a wall or side of a structure, as viewed if one were facing the wall or structure. <b>elevation<\/b> is the height of structure.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is probably the biggest accomplishment in the last month; design of much of the interior details, such as built-ins, wainscot, baseboard, box beams, the office spaces, the craft room, and the kitchen and bathrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Why is all this important?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The plumbers and electricians depend on these drawings to determine placement of rough plumbing, electrical outlets, switches, appliances, etc.<\/li>\n<li>The mill works needs these drawings to bid and build the interior elements.<\/li>\n<li>Even though all of these items go in after drywall, quite a bit of what goes under drywall depends on knowing the exact dimensions of these items.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is a quick overview to show just how much stuff it is.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-819\" src=\"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/interior_elevations_mashup-1024x440.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1400\" height=\"602\" srcset=\"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/interior_elevations_mashup-1024x440.png 1024w, http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/interior_elevations_mashup-300x129.png 300w, http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/interior_elevations_mashup-768x330.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, our designer Jessica has been working her tail off.\u00a0 In the past month, quite a bit has happened.
