last bit of concrete, at last"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We struggled quite a bit scheduling the last little bits of concrete.\u00a0 The rain kept saturating the soil and <a href=\"\/index.php\/2017\/01\/20\/the-back-porch-the-rain-and-a-lake\/\">created a lake<\/a> where the back porch slab is supposed to go.\u00a0 As a result, we had to keep pumping out the water and eventually dig considerably deeper footings than we had planned on, to get down to solid, unsaturated soil.\u00a0 Here are some before and afters.<\/p>\n<p>The porch off of the guest room at the front can complete the last bit of framing, the roof line above the porch and part of the kitchen.\u00a0 Once that is done, we can scaffold the house and start on the windows and
