The last of our property line fencing went in over the last month.\u00a0 We did the first stretch<\/a> back in May.\u00a0 In late July, we tore out the jungle<\/a> along our back property line, and then rushed to complete that section of fence before our neighbors had a wedding shower for one of their children in early August.<\/p>\n

The last two sections were the section from the rear property line to the landscape wall<\/a> we put in earlier this year, the section below with the tree in the middle.<\/p>\n

One interesting thing of note is the way we attached one of the posts.\u00a0 The oak tree had a stump next to it that I always thought was a low branch that had been cut off.\u00a0 It turned out to be an old Pittosporum undulatum hedge turned tree,\u00a0 We figured, it it wood, massively thick, and with an extensive root structure, what a better post support. So instead of digging down and burring the post in concrete, we simply shaved the stump to be flush with the post, and bolted the post to it.<\/p>\n

This picture is also a great example of how we hung a partial panel off the post to get the fence close to the tree.<\/p>\n

We also added a small section of low fence (required by code) at the front property line, which also is near an oak tree.<\/p>\n

You can see here we moved the fence over a couple of feet from the other side of the oak tree.\u00a0 On the other side, the neighbors rock wall bordering their driveway is right along the property line, and putting the fence there would have left them with no plant-able area, so we gave them a little planter bed so they could plant along their driveway.<\/p>\n

Now that the fencing is in, we can plant the privacy hedges along most of the property line.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
