{"id":1745,"date":"2018-09-11T08:54:33","date_gmt":"2018-09-11T16:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/?p=1745"},"modified":"2019-04-18T08:33:18","modified_gmt":"2019-04-18T16:33:18","slug":"water-damage-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/index.php\/2018\/09\/11\/water-damage-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Water damage update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been almost a month since we had the plumbing leak.\u00a0 We are still trying to get the <a href=\"https:\/\/specialtyplumbingsantabarbara.com\/\">plumbers<\/a> insurance company to pay up.\u00a0 Despite admitting they have responsibility for the claim, we have yet to see any money.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve reached the end of the remediation efforts, with the last of the dehumidifiers and fans turned off yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The most problematic area turned out to be the flooring around the kitchen island.\u00a0 Take a look at the setup they had to dry it out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1746\" src=\"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_2488-1280x960.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"548\" srcset=\"http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_2488-1280x960.jpg 1280w, http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_2488-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/buildingfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_2488-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This pulled air away from the flooring, and blew hot dry air in behind it.\u00a0 We were lucky in that the flooring does not appear to be damaged. With a three month lead time, I can&#8217;t imaging the hassle from having to replace the flooring.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, there was some collateral damage from the drying process.\u00a0 Our tongue-and-groove bead board ceiling developed cracks from the wood shrinking.
