Our pool house was mostly complete, but lacking the deck and the shower slab. That work started in December.
First, the steps leading up to the deck, and the supports around the deck had to be poured. We also added a collar around the old fireplace foundation for good measure; that 100+ year old formerly outdoor fireplace was sitting on rock and dirt. The concrete collar will help to keep all that together.
Here is the forming for the steps and central footings.
Here are the finished steps with the fireplace foundation collar / deck joist support behind.
Note the retaining wall on the left; that was previously poured.
Here is the outdoor shower area, freshly poured.
Once those were done, the dirt was graded flat and filled with gravel.
While most of the deck is covered by the pool house roof, the tow sides are open, and some of the french drains from the hillside on the right, empty into that area. The area under the deck will act to allow the water to percolate into the ground, rather than running off the property.
Following the gravel, came the deck framing.
Now, the IPE decking is about half way complete.
