Another week gone by and more milestones on the drywall. The crew is now putting up the “rock” in the last room now, the garage.
They’ve also made a lot of progress with the joint compound (mud) and taping of the 2nd floor. Here is the progression. First the drywall goes on.
Then the outside corners get the corner bead and some mud.
The the joints get taped and mudded.
Then the screw holes get some mud (vertical stripes below), the joints get a wider float of mud, and the outlets and other holes get floated out with mud.
As I understand it, they will be applying a thin coat of plaster over the entire wall. The look we want is smooth but not quite perfect; some imperfection is a nice touch to recreate the old house look, but we generally want the walls to look smooth and true.
